Student Well-being

Along with academics and extracurricular, Haque Academy places an equal emphasis on the well-being of its students. Childhood and adolescence are crucial periods in terms of emotional and cognitive development, and research shows that 10% of children between the ages of 5 to 6 years have a diagnosable condition and that 50% of all mental conditions start by age 14.

We strongly believe that children learn best when they are happy and healthy, and our Wellness Program seeks to address student concerns through counseling and safe spaces. The program fosters resilience and emotional intelligence in our students so that they can successfully deal with the various stresses of growing up.

“All children have within them the potential to be great kids. It's our job to create a great world where this potential can flourish.” Stanley Greenspan

Learning and Growing

A series of workshops and speaker sessions are held each academic year in order to educate the community and stay abreast with the latest research on various topics related to student wellbeing. In addition, aspects of social and emotional learning are woven into class lessons and curriculum to help students develop self-awareness, stress and emotion management, problem-solving and relationship building.

Safe Spaces

The school organizes several support groups for students in an effort to create safe spaces where students can come together to share their experiences and support one another. These spaces have given the student body a voice, contributed to a culture of empathy and kindness, and empowered students to tackle the stigma associated with mental health head-on.

Counseling and Guidance

Haque Academy has a full-time school psychologist who students can approach for any concerns and problems during the school year. Student issues are dealt with using a holistic approach, and by working with all stakeholders involved in any given student case.
