After experiencing a prolific and developmentally appropriate foundation in Mrs. Haque's Nursery, children may join Haque Academy to continue their further studies. We provide a smooth transition to the O Level system of learning. Here, the primary emphasis is on activity-based learning with an integrated approach so that children can develop their learning skills in a confident manner.
We expect our students to gain individual achievement, social responsibility and to leave the school with a commitment to a life of learning, civic responsibility and growth.
Our curriculum includes English Language, Literature, Maths, Urdu, Science, Social Studies (History and Geography) and Computer Studies to all classes 1 - 6. Islamiat is taught from grade 3 onwards.
Haque Academy is a registered Cambridge International Examinations Affiliate Centre. Each year our eleventh grade students appear officially through the British Council, Karachi. O Levels are normally taken in 9-10 subjects across the curriculum with specific preparation beginning in 9th grade and their final examination in 11th grade. Haque Academy, following the International O Level curriculum, places emphasis on broad and balanced study - with subjects drawn from areas covering Languages, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Creative, Technical and Vocational. The curriculum is structured so students attain both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.
Haque Academy provides an extensive after-school program that is designed to complement a full day of academic learning and provides students the opportunity to explore activities of particular interest.
Haque Academy provides an extensive and mandatory in-school creative activities programme for students of Classes 1 - 9. Students opt to pick a creative learning module to participate in for one academic year. Classes vary between grades and from year to year. The aim of this program is to allow students to explore hidden interests and talents. Through these programs students also develop confidence, team work and leadership skills and find new creative outlets for their thoughts and understandings. Classes may include: Cooking, Rollerblading, Yoga, Dance, Pottery, Dramatics, Photography, Sculpture, Film Making etc.
A balanced curriculum is integral in any schooling system. Extracurricular activities play a very significant role in providing a climate that fosters diverse interests and helps in creating an enjoyable environment. Extracurricular activities at Haque Academy include Music Concert, Drama Performances, Sports Day, Cross-grade Activities, Debates, Speeches, Math quizzes, Urdu quizzes, Art Competitions, Field trips, Visits from professionals and guest speakers etc. Activities like these encourage interpersonal learning skills and develop self-confidence among the children.
Each student at Haque Academy is encouraged to participate in team sports and athletics on an inter-house or inter-school level. We have developed over twelve teams for girls and boys at the beginner, junior and senior levels comprising of cricket, football, basketball and throw-ball. Students involved in these teams will be a permanent fixture and will practice their particular sport twice a week throughout the year and from year to year until they graduate. This long term team system has brought skill, comradery and pride to all those players involved.
Haque Academy is one of the founding members of the Karachi Inter School Sports League which organizes matches for team sports with similar schools. Our Annual Sport Day held each winter at the National Coaching Centre includes Olympic events such as long jump, high jump, javelin, shot-put, 200 meter races and circular 400 meter relays for which students practice year round. The school also forms badminton, swimming, table tennis, tennis, squash and marathon teams with small strengths for special tournaments and track meets.
Community service is an integral part of our system and we emphasize on providing a sense of responsibility in our students by teaching them the importance of sharing their time and resources with those who need it most. Our students are avid participants in fundraising and social-work activities. We also visit places like Daar-ul-Sukoon and the Edhi Center regularly to enable students to be sensitized to those who are less fortunate.
